Tune in to Nicole Atkins’ effortlessly cool funk-infused groove, ‘Domino’ taken from her upcoming album ‘Italian Ice’.

Nicole Atkins’ combines French Electro influences with analog-focused Soul on hypnotic current single, ‘Domino’ creating a crisp, funk infused groove that struts with a laid back swagger. Atkins’ vocal is breathy and intoxicating, occasionally oozing an icy coolness as she hits us with the playful and slightly ominous hook, “Tick tick tick tock, time is up/ This message will self destruct/ Hey hey hey, look out below/ watch ‘em fall like Dominos”.

Described as “a genre-pushing mission statement for living fully in troubled times” best seen in the lyrics '“I’m not gonna play / Safe and sound / When the world comes tumblin’, tumblin’ down.”’ Atkins’ cites inspirations such as Prince and ‘Miss You’ by The Rolling Stones. But there’s also a touch of the Blondie’s about the way Atkins' carries her sound; instantly likeable, confident and completely enthralling.

'Domino' is one of eleven tracks on Atkins’ ‘Italian Ice’ LP which was recorded at the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio with a group of her “best musical friends”; – Jim Sclavunos and David “Moose” Sherman of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, The Dap-Kings’ Binky Griptite, and drummer McKenzie Smith (St. Vincent, Midlake) – along with Spooner Oldham and David Hood of the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. The album was Co-produced by Nicole and Ben Tanner (Alabama Shakes), and also features special guests Britt Daniel, Seth Avett, John Paul White and Erin Rae, and songs co-written with Daniel, Hamilton Leithauser and Carl Broemel.

'‘Italian Ice’ is due for release May 29 via Single Lock Records.
