Sam Florian - 'Moods'
Swedish bedroom pop act Sam Florian releases another smooth slice of danceable, lo-fi indie with ‘Moods’.
Sam Florian first hit our radar here at When The Horn Blows with his melancholy bop '‘In My Body’ (feat. la Oberg) taken from his 2019 twelve track debut album ‘Youths’. Florian followed up ‘Youths’ by releasing a beautiful four-track EP, ‘Vånda’ sung entirely in his native language of Swedish.
Following in the footsteps of ‘Fender Mustang’, ‘Moods’ marks Florian’s second release of 2020 and sees Florian pair his trademark lofi disco sound with woozy synth textures to capture his feelings of isolation and loneliness during his time in boarding school, as he explains:
"The lyrics tells the story of a loop I got stuck in, isolated in my little room in this little village where the school was, with nothing to do. I often felt left out since I didn't hang out with many at the school. My escape was writing my music in my room on weekdays and traveling to the nearest big city on the weekends."
With much of the world in isolation during the time of writing, ’Moods’ definitely takes on a new resonance and it is taken from Florian’s second album, ‘Avocado Daydream’, scheduled for a June release.
