Home Counties - 'Redevelopment'
Bristol five-piece Home Counties make a very promising debut with post punk single, ‘Redevelopment’.
If you’re a fan of Mush and Yammerer, you’ll love this. The Bristol quintet Home Counties have released their debut single ‘Redevelopment’; built around angular riffing, yelping vocals, great hooks and bizarre alien-sounding synths.
Home Counties socially-charged lyrics look at the 60s redevelopers and the modern cycle of tearing down of modernist buildings to be replaced with “gentrified luxury flats”. Interesting stuff, especially when the nostalgia, “decay and progress” and the way in which capitalism and the economy works all come hand in hand and make us all miserable. Home Counties open your mind as to what’s really going on and how we can deal with these things and look to the future to make it better. Not bad for a first single, eh?
If this is the kind of thing that Home Counties will be producing, then count me a fan.
