Imagine being fifteen and insanely talented… A few years ago, the whole world was freaking out over young Billie Eilish, now, get ready to stan Japan, Man. With a funky spin on bedroom pop, the 15-year-old shares her experiences living in Lebanon while growing up online. New single ‘I Like To Wait’ embraces living in the moment.
“Are you afraid to die that there’s no afterlife?” opens the track like a punch to the gut. The perfect introduction to Japan, Man’s poignant lyricism. But she is not just good with words, sonically, ‘I Like To Wait’ is downright magnetic. A quirky instrumental and rich, soulful vocals allow the song to live in a DIY niche where time and space cannot reach it - A timeless beauty.
Speaking more on the track, Japan, Man explains: “This song is written about being stuck in a certain place where you feel trapped and confused. Sometimes we feel as though life would be better if we were somewhere different with a fresh start, but in reality, the only way to make life feel pleasurable is to be patient and await what is to come for us. Sometimes it’s hard to see that we have to live in the moment but when we start to do so, the time flies.”
