CLT DRP - 'Like Father' & 'Seesaw'

Brighton-based Feminist electro-punks CLT DRP follow up ‘Like Father’ with their new single, ‘Seesaw’ taken from their upcoming debut album, ‘Without the Eyes’.

Despite its angsty and, at times, bizarre sound, Brighton Feminist electro-punks CLT DRP say ‘Like Father’ is one of their most heartfelt and poignant songs to date. A malfunctioning robot set to a hypnotic yet simple beat kicks things. Once Annie Dorrett starts barking, it has a Slaves vibe in the stripped back drums and groove-based guitar riffing. The robot comes back just to set you at unease and get you headbanging. The chorus is explosive, as a Tom Morello meets Buckethead hybrid of noise takes the robot to complete obliteration.

The lyrics and meaning of ‘Like Father’, on the other hand, is based on a letter that Dorrett wrote to her father but never sent after leaving Toronto: “I write and praise my mother a lot in my music because of her strong influences […] I thought it would be nice to have a song with an honest kind of dialogue about how he continuously influences [my father] in a good way.”

Commenting on their new single, ‘Seesaw’ front woman Annie Dorrett explains: "'Seesaw' is a little rager for kids who rebelled against fitting into a box that wasn't made for them."

CLT DRP’s ‘Without the Eyes’ is due for release on August 28th via Small Pond Records and looks set to be a mind melting record, which will be followed by a rescheduled run of tour dates set for September.
