EP Review: Nea - 'Some Say'

After successfully having made her mark as a songwriter for the likes of ALMA and Zara Larson, Swedish recording artist Nea shares sparkling debut EP ‘Some Say’ – a beautiful collection of deeply personal pop.

From club ready opener ‘Drunk Enough To’ to stripped back, introspective closing track ‘Used To’, ‘Some Say’ feels like a short story talking about the different stages of infatuation. You have confident desire, hopeful optimism, that very stubborn “I don’t even care” attitude and, finally, giving in to love and vulnerability. Sonically, the EP thrills with hook heavy choruses, bouncy beats and groove infused rhythms that you might well find on a Camilla Cabello record - ‘Some Say’ is pop gold, made irresistible by NEA’s velvety vocals that effortlessly dance with the waves as she basks in her feelings.

Talking more about the EP, Nea reveals: “’Some Say EP’ are the songs I couldn’t give away to anyone else. I see now that they were meant for me even though I didn’t know that as I was writing them. These are the songs I love the most and that means the most to me. These are the songs that transformed the songwriter Linnea to the artist Nea.”
