EP Review: PEAKES – 'Pre Invented World'
Yorkshire three-piece PEAKES share sophomore EP ‘Pre Invented World’ – a bright pink ball of 80s nostalgia.
‘Pre Invented World’ surpasses expectations. On four excitingly vivid tracks, PEAKES explore the human condition to a backdrop of rich, ambient electronica and infectious synth pop melodies. Dark basslines with haunting undertones build a perfect contrast to Molly’s crystal clear vocals that shine brightest in the EP’s soaring anthemic choruses.
Lyrically, ‘Pre Invented World’ is not afraid of vulnerability, tackling hard-hitting and relevant topics such as anxiety and alienation as in standout moment ‘On The Other Side’ – “Pull me through another dimension, it’s a clear view on the other side. What’s left to lose? Running out if time, it’s all down to you.”
