Darragh Chaplin first hit our radar off the back of his collaborative electro pop single, ‘Closer’ which saw him pair up with FAVELA to deliver a fresh and authentic sound. ‘If You Want It To’ is Chaplin’s follow up solo single and sees him strip back pop to acoustic bones, driving home a warm guitar melody alongside his delicate soulful vocal, while ambient electronic textures sparkle in the background.
On the ideas behind the track Chaplin explains, “The song works through feelings of unrequited love for someone, from the perspective of being in love and also being loved. The song encapsulates the message that something real and meaningful cannot be forced, it has to exist organically. Without authenticity, what is the point of it all?”
’If You Want It To’ is wisened pop, sensitively executed and an absolute joy to listen to.
