Sprints - 'The Cheek'
Sprints are a new four-piece band from Dublin (the current capital of all great new bands) and have created a buzz with their debut single ‘Kissing Practice’. Despite having only formed last year, Sprints are back with their second release ‘The Cheek’, produced by none other than Girl Band’s Daniel Fox.
Under the influence of classic artists such as Iggy Pop and Patti Smith, Sprints produce proper raw rock n’ roll anthems with biting lyrics, and ‘The Cheek’ is a perfect example. The riffs and lead singer Karla’s snarl are similar to Amyl and The Sniffers, especially as she tackles “the experience of unsolicited sexual advances” with a no-fucks-given attitude: “He’s got too many women on the go/He said: “Do you wanna go home?”/ He said: “Baby, are you straight?”/I said, “Bye bye bye”.
In a world where equality in all forms is becoming ever more important, Sprints tell you how it: don’t be a dick, or just fuck off.
