EP Review: Mai Kino – 'Dopamine'
Portuguese electro pop artist Mai Kino releases brilliant new EP ‘Dopamine’.
‘Dopamine’ is a feel-good record. With sparkling electronica, refreshing melodies and dewy vocals, Mai creates a world of colour. From soaring title track ‘Dopamine’, to serene closing number ‘Swim’, the EP packs an array of hypnotic soundscapes. Her intriguing vocals shine brightest on beautiful ballad ‘Talk’ that sees Mai talk about losing love to the ebb and flow of shimmering harmonies and soothing synths – “Now you put your arms around me. Standing close, so why we feel alone, learning how to live without it.”
With ‘Dopamine’ Mai Kino effortlessly creates a whole universe of sound. Her music radiates an almost ethereal light, an immersive quality that catapults her creative take on electro pop right to the top.
