Ketch Harbour Wolves- 'Exodus'

Toronto/Hamilton based Indie rock outfit Ketch Harbour Wolves set an eerie backdrop to themes of a city under significant change on compelling single, ‘Exodus’.

‘Exodus’ is the first single taken from Ketch Harbour Wolves’ fourth studio album, Avalon, due for release July 10 via Dead Calm Records which looks set to be a profound album exploring the themes of “social upheaval, love and loss, economic collapse, exile and mid-life crisis.” 'With that in mind, ‘Exodus’ is a magnificently gloomy listen, channeling a brooding atmospherics and vocal performance that nods towards The National’s ethos.

Ethereal layers of synth opens the track, which sees the track shiver with a foreboding omnipotence, as rich guitars and forward driving drums give the track a crunchy emotive kick that harks upon 80s rock influences. There’s sadness here, a sweeping sense of uncertainty that can be felt by anyone who has ever experienced unwanted societal change. This somehow resonates harder during the multitude of universally shared obstacles we have all faced in some way during the Covid pandemic.

A euphoric and poetic take on sadness with the promise that emotions can change alongside the resilience of the seasons; an annual constant in offering the sweetness of new beginnings.
