Walt Disco – ‘Hey Boy (You’re One of Us)’

Walt Disco are here to blow your mind once again.

‘Hey Boy (You’re One of Us)’ is the “thematic centrepiece” of Walt Disco’s forthcoming debut EP ‘Young, Hard and Handsome’. But even that is a bit of an understatement. It’s sexy, dramatic, and arty, and brings to mind images of leather, velvet and neon. Which is understandable as ‘Hey Boy’ is about teaching a man to come to terms with his feminine side and the lyrics sometimes “get a bit kinky”.

‘Hey Boy’ is New Romantic with a Gothic punch with an extra helping of sleaze. And its weirdness is complemented by Bowie’s Berlin-era style guitar licks. But there is an element of angelic pureness and naivety as ‘Hey Boy’ features a choir-like intro and in the sudden outro.
