New Orleans-based pop group Video Age have released their third album ‘Pleasure Line’ via winspear, Pleasure Line is so catchy & radiates love throughout the album.

Video Age’s first two albums were about loneliness and discovering oneself, but Pleasure Line takes on a whole new attitude with more the songwriting based around love & the sound being very vibrant & upbeat. It does see the band arguably create their best piece of work to date with a fantastic combination of 80’s pop melodies & futuristic new wave sounds.

The album starts with the album titled track ‘Pleasure Line’ which starts in a restless mood but soon blossoms into a wonderful romantic space & opens up the possibility of love, a great introduction to the album. The album then glides perfectly into ‘Maybe Just Once’ which is a phenomenal pop song which first showcases the 80’s pop melodies creating a beautiful nostalgic sound.

One of the many highlights of the album is the song ‘Comic Relief’ which focuses on the complications of love, with lyrics like “I know the world is killing me / I love you baby, can’t you see / Ain’t nothing but a comedy” the depth of the album just grows to another level. ‘Comic Relief’ also first features Video Age’s futuristic pop sound which the band are known for. Other highlights include ‘Good To Be Back’ and the single ‘Aerostar’, with the single ‘Aerostar’ being astonishing take on hypnagogic pop & something that Ariel Pink would be mind blown with.

Pleasure Line just shows how good the multi-instrumentalists are with their ability to not just create an album with incredible song writing but also create brilliant fusions of futuristic & 80’s pop.
