Jessica Wilde – 'Wasted / Fuck You I’m Sober Now'

Rising South London artist Jessica Wilde takes us on a personal journey with two-part single(s) ‘Wasted / F*ck You I’m Sober Now’.

Very rarely are A-side and B-side as different as day and night whilst sharing a common enemy. ‘Wasted / F*ck You I’m Sober Now’ is an honest reflection on Jessica’s relationship with addiction. Where ‘Wasted’ takes on the role of Mr Jekyll – outlining her past of getting too drunk and losing control, ‘F*ck You I’m Sober Now’ sees Jessica take back her narrative, stepping into her power by “turning [her] life around”.

Sonically, this evolution is equally significant as ‘Wasted’s apologetic aura and slow-moving beats turn into ‘F*ck You I’m Sober Now’s forward charging bassline and chanting chorus. What Jessica carries from one song into the other, and what keeps them firmly intertwined, is the honest vulnerability and sincerity of her raw lyricism. Both tracks give a glimpse into her state of mind, into her most delicate emotions. Most notably when she shifts from her familiar husky, punky soul vocals to heartfelt spoken word. ‘Wasted / F*ck You I’m Sober Now’ is more than soulful R’n’B, it’s poetry.
