Little Suspicions - 'Limes'
Little Suspicions have created a modern-day love song sounding like a hazy alternative treat for fans of Flyte and The Last Shadow Puppets!
‘Limes’ is the second single from the London, Kent and Italy-based band that formed in February last year. It’s laid back attitude and smooth soundscape form the structure for Little Suspicions’ new release. Carefully euphoric vocals and angelic harmonies are the red thread that lead us through ‘Limes’. Yes, Alex Turner has done it before, but since they’re barely around anymore, it’s time for Little Suspicions to take the stage!
There’s a hint of nostalgia woven into the mellow and almost calming love song of Little Suspicions. After the first chorus, the song turns a corner and becomes more fast paced, shows a bit more personality and adds a few layers to the soundscape. Those different layers paint the picture of the nervousness of falling in love, the band explains: “‘Limes’ follows the thoughts of the narrator’s nervousness while falling in love. It describes his experience of becoming hopelessly distracted when he thinks of his crushes’ green eyes, of which have become his Achilles heel.”
Even though ‘Limes’ is an incredible art pop song, perfect for a moment of peace of mind and a breather on a busy day, it’s almost impossible not to drift towards hearing Alex Turner’s vocals and comparing the bands’ sound to both his projects. If that’s a positive thing or not I’ll leave it up to you, but I’ll be listening to ‘Limes’ on repeat because all of my playlists can always use a bit more Alex!
