Flyte - 'Under The Skin'
Indie-folk giants Flyte announce highly anticipated sophomore album ‘This Is Really Going To Hurt’ alongside striking new single ‘Under The Skin’.
Set to a slowly building piano backdrop layered over the steady thud of patient percussions, ‘Under The Skin’ is Flyte’s most devastatingly vulnerable offering to date. Frontman Will’s instantly recognisable vocals are laced with tension as soft verses turn into wailing melancholy - “Before the pills kick in, and the memories start to sting, let me get in.” It’s a song that vividly encapsulates the clenched fists, strained voice, constantly at the verge of tears heartache of losing a long-term partner to a tumultuous breakup. A song soaked in so much emotion, you can practically feel the pain radiating off its thunderous final quarter. Talking about the song, Will Taylor explains: “’Under The Skin’ is a build-up of tension. It warns of imminent chaos. An ode to a relationship that’s on the brink of destruction. I hope we never have to write a song like it again, it was a very dark time.”
Poetic and disarming as always, ‘Under The Skin’ is the final single taken from Flyte’s upcoming album ‘This Is Really Going To Hurt’. 2017’s debut LP ‘The Loved Ones’ garnered heaps of attention for the band’s extraordinary three-part harmonies and emotive songwriting. This sophomore record promises to be a worthy follow up and yet another emotionally intelligent masterpiece.
