marinelli - 'OH GOD'
Rising bedroom-pop producer marinelli shares new track ‘OH GOD’, a depiction of cathartic overthinking…
You might think you are not familiar with LA singer/songwriter/producer marinelli, but the reality is, you probably know of him already. With the beginnings of his career being related to Gen Z superstar Billie Eilish (as he was her drummer), marinelli has grown to be one of the hottest up-and-coming producers in the lo-fi/bedroom-pop scene having worked with the likes of Spill Tab, Wallice, MyKey, and JAWNY. However, his talents go beyond music production, marinelli also happens to be a really great songwriter as he certainly shows in his new track ‘OH GOD’.
As marinelli himself explains, "This song is about feeling intense emotions that you know you should let simmer before expressing - the song came to be when I was sitting in the parking lot of the LA court where I was doing jury duty. I was feeling pretty upset about something in my life and I hated that feeling of “sitting in my car” and feeling sorry for myself without driving or getting out.”
‘OH GOD’ takes the listener through a two-minute trip that begins with a very soft production highlighting marinelli’s smooth voice. As the song progresses, more and more elements are added culminating in a very well curated distortion that incorporates multiple voices and harmonies to mirror overthinking. The perfect soundtrack for that relatable vulnerable moment. To accompany the track, marinelli has also shared new video that perfectly depicts the mental spiralling of a generation tied to virtual reality while constantly having someone or something in mind.
With this track joining his brilliant catalog featuring ‘Turtleneck Sweater’ and ‘Candy Cigarette’, the rising star gets one step closer to his debut EP which promises to touch on feelings that are all-too-familiar to most of us and we certainly cannot wait.
