BASH! - 'Favourite Things'
Energetic and engaging, BASH! have introduced themself with ‘Favourite Things’, a track that fizzes with electro-pop flavour.
Snap, crackle, pop, goes the new track from Southampton outfit BASH!. Aptly titled ‘Favourite Things’, the track bubbles with pop sensibilities, and is littered with electric riffs, peppy drumbeats and dynamic vocals. What emerges is a track restless with excitable demeanor, and a crisp, charamstic sound that is as addictive as sherbet lemons.
It opens with a clean electric guitar riff and acoustic handclaps that simmer underneath Amanda Bashmakovas crisp lyricism. She spouts off about the nature of frenemies, and the give and take of friendship, honing in on relationship truths that cut above the bubbly sound. The contrast between the lyrics and the sugary-sweet backing is unexpected, yet almost a relief, adding a newfound depth to offering.
“The song came around during our chaotic last year at university,” says the band. “Definitely a sassy tune about being tired of navigating egos. There is a line about bolognese which comes from a Russian saying: hanging noodles on someone’s ear, which basically means lying to someone."
Getting to the middle-8, the track breathes for a minute, before, swelling and exploding into a magnetic chorus. The surpy sound is reminiscent of a summer morning, where the mood is high, and possibilities endless.
This being the first track we’ve heard from the emerging band, it’s set expectations high, and cemented BASH! as a band that has nowhere to go but up.
