Wings of Desire - 'Better Late Than Ever'
Alt-Pop duo Wings of Desire return with anthemic and atmospheric new single ‘Better Late Than Never.
Somewhat ironically given the title, Wings of Desire have wasted very little time following-up their February EP ‘End Of An Age’ with new music. This latest effort carries down a similar path to the one they carved out in their debut EP and nods to the assured big sound which made their former band INHEAVEN so endearing.
Maybe it’s bad form mentioning their former band here, but it’s testament to the work they put in when releasing what would be their only album, the self-titled ‘INHEAVEN’ in 2017 that made it such a disappointment when they disbanded the following year. Having played the record to dust and watched them live several times it felt like they were on the cusp of something big.
It was this longing for further exploration of the sound created by power couple James Taylor and Chloe Little which makes Wings of Desire so special. ‘Better Late Than Never’ is a rich serving of anthemic and atmospheric indie which by now seems second nature to the duo. The track acts as a public service announcement on the acceptance of ageing with a determination to enjoy life for what it is without putting too much emphasis on denial or regret.
With Wings of Desire the band are flying high and it’ll be great to see what heights they can reach next.
