SIIGHTS - 'Fake It'

Up-and-coming duo SIIGHTS deliver sugar-rush pop with depth on their new single 'Fake It'.

Ahead of their debut EP, out next year, SIIGHTS are on an undeniable upward trajectory. Since 2018, they've been stacking up heartfelt and catchy pop singles, named 'Ones to Watch' by BBC Introducing and recently accompanying BRITs Rising Star recipient Griff on her sold-out UK tour.

The intimacy of the band's sound has appropriate roots. SIIGHTS consists of two close friends, Mia Fitz and Toni Etherson, who bonded over moving to Los Angeles from their hometowns of Dublin and Glasgow. Together they cover every creative base in curating their sound, from songwriting and multi-musicianship to production.

The layered production and deft incorporation of instruments from bass guitar to high-tempo synths shine in 'Fake It', the band's latest single. SIIGHTS is clearly a fortuitous meeting of kindred creative minds because what results is a skilfully complex soundscape that uplifts its lyrical content.

According to the band, "'Fake It' has a drive and energy to it, but lyrically talks about the struggles of allowing yourself to open up to someone." Reflecting on their future sound, they also said, "There's a theme of hopefulness throughout, which we want to be at the core of SIIGHTS."

The new single blends a nostalgic early-'00s enthusiasm with a vulnerable narrative and celebrates authenticity in a relationship. More than a self-focused expression of truthfulness, it's about the joy of a partnership with no room for concealment: "Give me your darkest moments / I want your highs and lows". With a fearless verve, the lyrics declare, "I know that I won't regret you".

'Fake It' is an empowering declaration of self-trust and security in love that also happens to be an example of electro-pop excellence. So go on, hit play and get out on the dance floor! We promise you won't have to fake it!
