two blinks, i love you - 'i love you'

Under a new name ‘two blinks, i love you’ Liam Brown, aka: pizzagirl, has not only re-branded his band name, but also his music.

‘i love you’ is the first single released by new band two blinks, i love you - previously known as pizzagirl, Liverpool based singer/songwriter Liam Brown. Brown posted an instagram post, explaining how he has grown with his music and persona pizzagirl, which he started when he was only 19 years old. He highlighted how his ideas of his future as a musician and the way he makes his music has dramatically changed over time, and starting this new project is more true to the person and musician he is now.

The track itself is beautifully melancholy, and definitely feels more mature both lyrically and musically compared to Brown’s eccentric, bedroom-pop sound he built as pizzagirl. The song feels very raw and honest, as he confesses his love and feelings of helplessness and confusion that goes along with that emotion while a soft melody carries the lyrics throughout.

It feels like the track would fit perfectly in a coming-of-age movie, with the protagonist growing up and dealing with the challenges life throws at us, falling in love, loss, worry and confusion. It holds a great amount of relatability, thanks to Brown’s beautiful use of truthfulness and informality embedded in his lyrics, a skill he has always possessed.

two blinks, i love you is also accompanied by a video, a charming, chromatic music video with a dulled background palette and pops of red. It shows Brown walking alone through a park until he is joined by a huge heart symbol that begins walking and dancing along with him - until it starts to beat down on him, a clever way to show how your heart knows what you really want; and will slap you silly until you see it for yourself.

two blinks, i love you’s next live show is at the Kazimier Stockroom, Liverpool December 7th, where there will for sure be lots of fans waiting to see Brown’s new venture as a musician, with anticipated new songs and hopefully some old favourites.

‘i love you’ proves that there are many different shades to Brown’s music, and solidifies his talent as an ambitious and talented songwriter and musician on the scene right now, and is very much so, one to watch.
