Festival News: 2000tress announce main stage headliner
After another fantastic year back in July, Upcote’s own 2000trees is back once again with yet another Summer highlight.
Don’t worry everyone, a dreary week in November has just been saved. No, I don’t mean England’s dramatic 6-2 win over Iran - it’s much better. It’s 2,000 Trees, announcing the first swathe of their line-up, with a new artistic colour scheme to boot!
After recently taunting everyone with a (way too) short and sweet ‘Returning Heroes’ list a few weeks ago— including Bob Vylan and Holding Absence — the group over at 2,000 Trees obviously felt bad and wanted to make it up to everyone. And what better way is there than giving everyone the first taste of what to come?
Preceded by an emoji-themed teaser yesterday, letting those in the know piece together the album clues, come the mighty Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Cheltenham-bound to headline and close the Saturday night. With four albums to their name, ranging from the just-energetically-heavy to the blisteringly-heavy, and the first few tastes of what’s on its way in ‘Drugs’ and ‘Parasite’, they’ll have the whole festival moving - even if the happy and wholesome hellion Frank has to go out into the crowd and get them jumping himself.
Joining them on the bill come fairly iconic Hundred Reasons, who recently announced their new, full-length album coming in February — their first new music in fifteen years, which is almost as exciting a prospect as actually getting to see them again.
Elsewhere, pop-punk favourites The Wonder Years, fresh off the back of their UK tour, are already planning to be back again this Summer, bringing with them Dan ‘Soupy’ Campbell’s solo project, Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties; pretty much the epitome of two for the price of one. Speaking of two for one, Holding Absence, not content with their Wednesday showing, are playing a special, soon-to-be-revealed set in the festival proper too.
There’s the brilliant Rival Schools, the lovely-yet-terrifying Loathe, the return of fan favourites Dream State, the superb and succinctly named And So I Watch You From Afar, the incredible Irish acoustic-metal band The Scratch, the fearsome Svalbard, and a hell of a lot more than I can write down and describe in a timely manner, with yet more still to come.
Wednesday 5th July - Saturday 8th July 2023. Get those dates in the calendar, get your cards out, and get your tickets now.
