Tomberlin - 'idkwntht'
Tomberlin highlights the introspective power of music, her new single ‘idknwntht’ is a gentle reminder to stop, breathe, and reflect, before moving forward.
We’ve not heard new music from Tomberlin for almost two years. We have been eagerly awaiting her return, and It seems that our patience is beginning to pay off. Her 2020 EP 'Projections’ was met with acclaim, and rightly so, for its compelling and beautiful collection of songs. It's exciting to hear new music from the artist and it’s clear that her talent for music and songwriting is as strong as ever in her 2022 release ‘idkwntht’.
The lyrics of ‘idkwntht’ are kept simple, yet maintain the poignant and intimate style that was so enticing from her previous EP. There’s a certain vulnerability in the words, which brings a strong sense of honesty to the song. Tomberlin describes ‘idkwntht’ as “a sonic altar of sorts”, going on to say that “it's about taking a moment for remembrance, clarity, and setting an intention for what is to come.” This message is illustrated by the care and consideration of the lyrics and atmosphere of the track, which sets a calming soundscape for Tomberlin and guest vocalist Felix Walworth’s voices to shine.
We hope that this is the first of many new releases from Tomberlin, as her delicate style has left us captivated and eager for more new music.
