Haim - 'Lost Track'

Haim have recently released their new hit ‘lost track’ and it’s an absolute summer’s dream.

The girl’s new song named ‘lost track’, which has now been released on all major streaming platforms features the use of a xylophone, giving the song a reminiscence of childhood and innocent fragile qualities. The song is about keeping track of yourself in love and not losing who you are but yet acknowledges how the trials and tribulations of life can cause you to lose track of who you are in the big wide world and sad truth that sometimes you can’t get back what you’ve lost.

The song seems to be very nostalgic in both lyricisms and in instrumental. The instrumental is much softer than the usual Haim track and through this comes the sense of innocence that the song inspires. I really enjoyed the use of xylophone in this song as it’s a unique instrument that is rarely used in modern music, it gives a song a completely different vibe, which is where the reminiscence of childhood comes in, at-least for me, as when you’re a child this is the typical instrument you’re given to play with, again suggesting innocence.

The song in it’s all soft and girly glory, brings with it I feel a sense of summertime. It’s the kind of song I could picture listening to on a beach, somewhere sunny with a tiny little breeze flowing, the kind of state of tranquillity and relaxation you can only get abroad but still exists! It’s the perfect song for a bit of reflection on life as the lyrics themselves are very reflective on life ‘in the fast lane’ in a sense with lyrics like ‘trying to get on top, but it’s never easy”.

The song feels dainty and airy but in a very cute, usual Haim inspired kind of way. It’s pretty. The harmonies in the chorus of the track add some depth to the track, as the chorus isn’t as soft n dainty as the rest of the verses of the song. The song itself is fairly short too and as any Haim track does it always leaves you wanting more. This release is definitely unique, extremely feminine in its prettiness and daintiness and is certainly becoming one of my favourites by the Haim girls and hopefully soon will be appearing in all of your playlists for relaxing in the Summer too.
