Hovvdy - 'Everything'
Hovvdy share soaring, surprise new single ‘Everything’.
Hovvdy continues to push the boundaries of acoustic guitar driven songwriting with their detailed new single ‘Everything’. Written during the sessions for their 2021 breakthrough album True Love, ‘Everything’ is a beautiful example of Hovvdy’s up-tempo spark. The track feels like a spiritual successor to the pre-True Love singles ‘Runner’ and ‘I’m Sorry’, and is a lovely addition to their catalogue.
Produced by Andrew Sarlo (Big Thief, Bon Iver, Dijon), ‘Everything’ sounds as meticulously crafted as Hovvdy’s previous work, with a skittering banjo over a propulsive drum machine loop and layered vocals. Speaking about the track, Will Taylor says - “Everything is a song about having fun even when you miss the mark.”
The band made their debut appearance in London, playing a pair of sold-out shows. The first took place at Rough Trade West, the second set at a capacity Omeara. ‘Everything’ is a three-minute embodiment of what Hovvdy is about; personal songwriting, flawlessly layered production and the band's soaring multi-tracked vocals. Here’s to more banjo and drum loop music.
