Pixies - 'Human Crime'
Pixies, a household name for definite, have recently released a new single, their first release since September 2020.
The track named ‘Human Crime’, which was released on all major platforms on March 2nd, comes paired with a wistful music video featuring dewey-eyed recordings at a nightclub with an almost nostalgic feel. In addition, the music itself has a particular hypnotic effect. The chorus divulges the lyrics ‘don’t you be unkind’, and these lyrics are played repeatedly in areas throughout the song in a trance-like manner. The music video is directed by Pixies’ own Paz Lenchantin and filmed in Los Angeles; the video offers a glimpse into a beautifully curated parallel universe where fairies run free.
The instrumentals sum up everything you love about the Pixies. The vibey guitar, Black Francis’ mesmerising vocals and lovable drum beats. Despite their first release being ‘Surfer Rosa’ in 1988, the time has seemingly bared no obstacle for the Pixies as their music sounds as unique and compelling as ever. ‘Human Crime’ is the perfect song to put on first thing in the morning as a sing-a-long in your bedroom. It is also the ideal accompaniment to lift your spirits when someone has been unkind towards you.
The Pixies certainly have a fascinating year ahead, with 2022 gracing their fans with many opportunities to see them live. Pixies are ready to hit the road once again for the first time in over two years. They have U.S. warm-up dates and then headline the Vive Latino 2022 festival in Mexico City before heading to the U.K. and Europe. Also on the cards for Pixies is opening the BBC 6 Music Festival on April 1st in Cardiff.
