CANDY - 'World of Shit'

CANDY go for the jugular on the brisk & brutal final pre-release offering from their forthcoming album Heaven Is Here.

World of Shit is another vitriolic slab of noise-induced hardcore from a band ready to wreak havoc on a bigger scale than ever before. While looking to the past with their influences on their sleeves while offering a nightmarish glimpse into the future, CANDY are showing some of the best the hardcore scene has to offer.

CANDY’s debut 7” and subsequent EP on one of modern hardcore’s best and most respected labels, Triple B Records, have become modern classics of the genre. With the release of 2019’s Super Stare single, the band signed with leading metal label Relapse Records and are ready to unleash their second album, Heaven is Here, upon the world.

Teaming with engineer Arthur Rizk, CANDY have released their third single from the album ‘World of Shit’. Starting with a thrash metal assault, the band find themselves working to the strengths of Rizk having produced Power Trip’s thrash epic, Nightmare Logic, in 2017. With breakneck speed and bludgeoning riffs, the band get to a surprisingly bouncy chorus while Zak Quiram spits with pure vitriol over the top, with lyrics that represent the world that surrounds us as they see it.

After blazing through two verses and two choruses in 45 seconds, the ears are further assaulted with a piercing buzzsaw sound rising above the chaos before flying into another chorus. World of Shit never stays still and always keeps you on your toes, as it slows down slightly to finish with a groovy and heavy breakdown. CANDY are continually throwing more unexpected and exciting flourishes to their sound, giving fans more reason to front flip and burst pipes as they got lost in the chaos.

Through singalong choruses with lines such as “crippled state, society of hate, nation of pain, world of shit”, thrash guitar riffs and noise, CANDY have carved out a song equally brutal and catchy. Following the industrial hellscape of ‘Transcend to Wet’ and the straightforward assault of ‘Human Condition Above Human Opinion’, the band are ready to drop one of the most pessimistic and enthralling albums of the year.
