Inspired #371 - Noah
19-year-old singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Noah has just released his debut single ‘What The Other Boys Do’. A multi-layered piece of alternative pop with its roots in teenage musical experimentation. The track maps out his journey as a transmasculine guy navigating the world trying to be himself.
He took a moment to talk to us about the inspirations behind his music.
Who are your top three musical inspirations and why?
My top 3 would have to be Lorde, Billie Eilish, and The Weeknd. They’re all so amazing at conveying emotions not only through their lyrics but the music as well.
Is there a certain film that inspires you and why?
A film that inspires me is Unbroken. His story is incredible and never ceases to amaze me.
What city do you find the most inspiring and why?
Of the cities I’ve been to, Luxembourg is definitely the most inspiring. It’s where I grew up and there are so many beautiful things about it that light a fire inside of me every time I return.
Who is the most inspiring person to you and why?
My mother is definitely one of the most inspiring people to me. She’s ridiculously strong and is always there to support our family.
What were your inspirations when writing your new track?
The song is about transphobia, so what inspired me were my own experiences with this. It's a song that, I hope, forces people to confront their own preconceptions and empathasise with the situations that we sometimes find ourselves in.
How would you like to inspire people?
I would love to inspire people to unapologetically be themselves, and live their lives to the fullest regardless of what others think/do.
