Izzi De-Rosa – ‘love u in the morning’

Self-titled ‘Brat Pop’ artist Izzi De-Rosa provides an unapologetic account of her inner conflict surrounding a failing relationship, in candid new single ‘love u in the morning’.

Early 2000s pop-inspired artist Izzi De-Rosa is an upcoming name within the music industry. The London-based singer-songwriter first made a name for herself on TikTok, where she boasts over 400,000 followers and almost 10 million likes. Izzi’s social media presence benefitted the rising artist when a clip of her first single ‘Love & Roulette’ went viral, with over 10 million views on TikTok alone. Such attention resulted in her securing a deal with Atlantic Records, enabling her to release the track, which has amassed over 3 million Spotify streams to date.

Despite her debut single only coming out last year, Izzi has had notable success within the British pop scene already, having gained recognition from various platforms including Notion and CLASH, as well as being featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday, Our Generation, and Fresh Finds. The 25-year-old has also played a number of live shows, including her headline at The Grace in London, and a set at The Great Escape Festival earlier this year.

New track ‘love u in the morning’ is Izzi’s second release of 2022, following her single ‘Red Flags’ which was released in March. The audacious anthem combines endearing piano melodies with an indie guitar-laden chorus, as Izzi grapples with her conflicting emotions towards a former partner. Produced by Jonah Summerfield (Dylan Fraser, Matilda Mann), the infectious track has been described as Kate Nash meets Sex Pistols, drawing inspiration from numerous musical eras and genres. On the meaning behind her new single, Izzi explains:

“It tells a story of a relationship that’s falling apart, but not in the ‘omg my entire world is crashing before my eyes and I’m so heartbroken’ kinda way, but in the dull and underwhelming way that a lot of relationships tend to fizzle out in real life. There’s a lot of back and forth and second guessing, and moments where you feel like it’s meant to be and moments where you don’t. I wanted to paint that story for the listener and also have the song sonically represent the extreme changing of emotions; the happy days where you’re all in love and how quickly those feelings can turn to hate...”

With the ‘love u in the morning’ music video soon to be released, new music already promised, and an upcoming set at Live At Leeds next month, it seems that we can expect to hear a lot more from Izzi De-Rosa in the near future.
