Lloyd's House - 'Heather'

Lloyd’s House is back with new single ‘Heather’, a shimmering pop ballad with catchy synths and dreamy vocals.

Building on his acclaimed bedroom-pop material thus far, Lloyd’s House embraces the breadth of their musical capabilities with ‘Heather’. The new single combines the best of dreamy vocal harmonies and aching lyricism with crunchy punk-esque guitars and seamless production. With a shimmering standout bridge coming to a sparsity as the guitars die down, he builds up back to the final chorus with a crashing sense of finality.

Lloyd Ledingham, the mastermind behind Lloyd’s House, shares, "I've always been into catchy melodies and hooks, but sonically ‘Heather’’s a bit more weird, a bit more crunchy. a lot more impactful. A big part of that is having recorded it with a live band.” On the inspiration behind the song, he says, "It's probably the most cliche emo thing to write about, but a lot of the themes in the song are wanting someone but knowing that you can't have them. But trying anyway, because it's the only option you have. It's a lot of self pity, trying to find comfort in discomfort. Feeling like it's easier to want someone that you can't have than move on, process it and deal with it.”

Recorded by Chris McCrory (Catholic Action) and mastered by Sam Smith (Green Door), ‘Heather’ symbolises a start of something new for Lloyd's House, as he maintains lo-fi aspects of his existing discography while introducing more polished pop phrases.

Ledingham’s debut EP, We Could Be Friends, was released on Corkscrew Records. Then followed by his self-titled album, the definitive Lloyd’s House consists of their characteristic melodic bass, crashing drums and synth experimentals - topped off with sweet yet heart-wrenching vocals.

Citing Perfume Genius, Alex G and Porsches as influences, Lloyd’s House has solidified their name within Scotland’s alt-pop scene. ‘Heather’ certainly signifies the start of something new for the singer - set to perform throughout the UK this month, this time with a fully formed live band.
