Lambrini Girls - 'White Van'

Lambrini Girls add to their strong back-catalogue with single, ‘White Van’ which takes on the horrific reality of cat-calling in the best way possible: through straight up punk.

The track is uber-powerful with its anarchic vocals and distorted power-chords. It’s a hard-hitting, punk anthem from the get-go. The undeniable power oozes through the track from minute one.

Brighton’s Phoebe Lunny, Lilly Macieira and Catt Jack have a track to be proud of with ‘White Van’. It not only goes after those guilty of such monstrosities, but it also offers a space for fans to completely and utterly lose themselves. It really does have the makings of a great song for the crowds, for those venues where the crowd are within touching distance of the band.

Being labelled “A cornerstone of Brighton’s queer music scene” by Kerrang! Magazine, the band are no strangers to the limelight already. My guess would be that, after the release of their upcoming EP, ‘You’re Welcome’ (out May 19th ) there will be all eyes on the Brighton band.

The relatability of the song is undeniable. So many in the UK are exposed to grossly frequent sexual harassment, in many forms. One of these forms is cat-calling, and the fact that the band tackle this issue in the least sensitive way possible is absolutely brilliant. A real middle finger to all those out there who make people uncomfortable.

There is a real aura surrounding the band, as they head out on their lengthy tour. An aura which is rarely found surrounding bands with so few released songs. It goes to show the quality of the tracks they’re putting out.

‘White Van’ is the embodiment of a perfect punk song. No messing about, loud. It has a message and we can understand it even if we’re just paying attention to the sheer anger within it.

A wicked tune, and it’s one that I’m sure will be well-received on the band’s tour.
