Cable Ties - 'Time for You'
‘Time for You’ is the second single to be released from Australian garage-rock trio Cable Ties’ upcoming third album, All Her Plans.
Australian punks Cable Ties kicked their 2023 off with a bang, resurfacing to the scene after two years of musical absence. At the end of January, the band – comprised of vocalist Jennie McKenchie, bassist Nick Brown, and drummer Shauna Boyle – released ‘Perfect Client’, an AC/DC infused criticism of society and its lack of care for those with mental health issues. The track got the world excited for what was to come, and it saw Cable Ties head out on a UK/EU tour at the beginning of February.
Fast-forward a few months, and the trio have mellowed out their sound a little bit, and released what is – for all intents and purposes – a love song. ‘Time for You’, whilst loud and punk-rock in nature, contains a soft sentiment and McKenchie’s vocals take more of a centre-stage than has been seen in previous releases.
Release day was made to be even more exciting by the announcement of Cable Ties’ upcoming third album, All Her Plans, which is due for release via Merge Records on June 23rd. The album is “a beacon of furious truth, righteous frustration, and tender empathy,” and is to be viewed as the band’s manifesto. Whilst their discography contains years’ worth of feeling and incredible music, what’s next for the band really speaks for them, All Her Plans is to be “the band’s fiery statement of renewed purpose.”
On the release of Time for You, McKenchie reveals that ‘Time for You’ is about feeling safe with someone,” enlightening listeners that they’re “a pretty chaotic and anxious person… when I come home to my partner, I feel like everything is going to be ok.”
Accompanying the single is its official music video, which provides a simplicity that allows the track to be the viewers’ main focus – no flashy visuals or obnoxious lights; just a black backdrop and the band letting the music flow through them (nice dance moves, guys!). I don’t know about you, but this track, alongside the album announcement, makes us pretty excited for the future of Cable Ties. If you just can’t wait, you can catch them on tour with Amyl & The Sniffers in August ’23.
