‘Worthy’ is inspired by a story that means a lot to Samantha Lindo. Lindo’s Great Great Grandfather Samuel Brown was a black methodist minister from Barbados, whose faith and knowledge of himself as a worthy child of God, enabled him to defy societal prejudice and pursue an interracial marriage to Ada - a white Scottish teacher and daughter of previous plantation owners. Samuel Brown and Ada married in 1981.
Samantha Lindo grew up in South-West London. However, now lives in Bristol. Lindo has received praise from the likes of the BBC, and TEDx as well as being featured on BBC Sounds Hot list.
Since a young age, Samantha Lindo has written poems and songs, using songwriting as a way to express herself as well as traumas throughout her life.
Samantha Lindo’s album will follow themes of dual heritage identity, inter-generational healing and climate justice. The themes of Family will continue to be explored throughout the album, as showcased with her latest single ‘Worthy’.
‘Worthy’ is an incredible single, creating excitement and anticipation for what is to come from Samantha Lindo’s debut album that is set to release later this year.
