Elle Coves - 'Before I Fall Apart'

Newcomer Elle Coves makes a stunning first impression with her first release ‘Before I Fall Apart’.

If she hasn’t been on your radar, she will be now. Elle Coves has been making a name for herself over the last few years, both at sold out gigs and over the internet. Her new track, ‘Before I Fall Apart’ has already amassed a million hits on TikTok and finally we get to hear it properly. Music for Coves is a mouthpiece through which she can express her true feelings and already it’s caught the eyes and ears of many. The track wonderfully captures everything that is teenage life; from the dizzying heights to the heartbreaking lows, there is no better way to introduce yourself than with a track like this.

The track opens with a pulsing synth beat that instantly gets into your head. Upbeat yet having nuances and special touches to it, it’s a fantastic summer track. From the off, Coves is baring all :

“I’ll be honest I can’t take this honesty, made a promise that I’m struggling to keep. It’s just one of those tendencies, I go quiet when I should scream.”

Her tone is remarkably mature and listening to her, you get the impression that this is a young woman who has had experiences beyond her years. Coves has been incredibly transparent on her social media about her nomadic and at times chaotic lifestyle and has spoken about her experiences moving to the U.K. as a young teen. Her tone illustrates everything she has endured and has a gentle raspiness to it that really makes you want to listen closely. The beat breakdown into the chorus is fantastic and really cements the track as a summer singalong hit. The chorus itself is brilliant and the use of harmony is brilliant. There is a real power and strength behind her lyricism that comes pouring through-Coves is here to get your attention and make you hear what she has to say.

“I tried to run but oh my god I can’t escape this feeling. Tried to move on, it’s back to you that all my roads keep leading. You’re all I want so give me something I can believe in, before I fall apart.”

Her inspirations shine through her songwriting and it’s clear that she takes influence from names like Fleetwood Mac, Maggie Rogers and Taylor Swift. Her instrumentation and mixing, courtesy of the legend that is Spike Stent gives the track a real punch to it and you really feel that instead of falling apart, for Coves this is a breakthrough.

While she has yet to announce live dates, Coves has already hinted at more music to come playing some unreleased demos live on TikTok to celebrate this drop. We’re keeping our eyes on the festival lineups to see if she features because its a certainty that this track will be fab performed live.
