Album Review: MADMADMAD - 'Behaviour Sink Delirium'

In London, the post-punk, electronic band MADMADMAD are gearing up to release their third album “Behaviour Sink Delirium”. The unique album name and inspiration comes from the 1968 - 1970 American experiment curated by ethologist John B. Calhoun. Which was to study behaviour effects in population growth within 3,000 mice in a cosy safe living environment. That resulted in violent behaviour, social issues and cannibalism that led to extinction.

This experiment inspired MADMADMAD to look at our society and how close it resembles today’s world. With the way of living, social issues and mental health issues on the rise and changing due to the internet, media and beliefs. “Behaviour Sink Delirium” is a reflection album that is as unique as the band itself.

The album opens with 22 sec track “A Gin, No Tonic, Mannheim” which tends to be like a per drink to get you in the mood for a chaotic journey as the song title suggest. As you hear the A.I tick away, it’s the key to open the world of “Behaviour Sink Delirium”. We arrive with the drums going hard for the already released single “Krautjerk”. A jungle groove that gets you in the mood to boogie. A.I type lyrics are spit out as the bass and synths get funkier and nastier.

Across this nine track album, you will come to terms with lyrics and loud expressive melodies all leading back to the influences of our society. The album builds by each individual track that has its own unique sound and journey. “Behaviour Sink Delirium” keeps ticking and getting bigger and bolder. Digging deeper into more spirited bass and guitar riffs, A.I out of this world synths to hardcore drum beats. It’s screams more more more. MADMADMAD add deep and meaningful lyrics to the mix. All together, you can feel your heart get swapped up with the madness and chaos of the album. Your feet are jumping up and down, your hands are in the air and you have smile on your face that you can’t get rid off.

“Behaviour Sink Delirium” is a playful, post-punk album that will take you by storm. It’s quirky, unique, unusual and it has ‘Totes Amaze balls’ track titles.

While still making you wonder the meaning behind it all. In that our world is crazy so let’s make it fun anyway.
