Red Rum Club - 'Undertaker'

Red Rum Club excite fans with a number of huge announcements, whilst gifting listeners the brilliant new single ‘Undertaker’.

The Liverpool group have shared their well-kept secrets, and fans from all over will be buzzing. The collection of announcements included dates of their biggest UK tour to date, which concludes with an epic hometown show at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena, where 11,000 of Red Rum Club’s finest supporters will gather to celebrate the group’s music.

Added to the band’s live setlist will undoubtedly be a number of tracks from their upcoming record ‘Western Approaches’. The latest single ‘Undertaker’ becomes one of those set to feature on the album and it is sure to be a hit with fans.

The track is funky and effortlessly cool from the get-go, with a groovy bassline kicking things off. The rest of the group quickly join the music and really get ‘Undertaker’ going. This one builds up nicely with a real emphasis on the instantly recognisable vocals of front-man Francis Doran. It feels to be the perfect song to accompany the band’s huge news. It has a real triumphant feel, particularly during the choruses. Each band member works in perfect unison to produce what is a really tight sound.

Despite the upbeat sound of the track, the lyrics, title and music video all link to death, a fairly morbid topic. The band tackle the theme with brilliant music. The frontman sings “Undertaker make my day, Undertaker I don’t wanna stay. Undertaker make my problems go away.” These dark lyrics are brought to life in such a brilliant way, with the band creating a track that is anything but dark and depressing.

The accompanying video is just brilliant. It depicts the character Death making his way around the real world, visiting places such as Job Centre Plus, a bus stop and what appears to be the house of the band’s frontman. He even enjoys a Great British cup of tea.

Everything about it is just fantastic. It’s funny, it’s clever, and it comes with a genius track.

Red Rum Cub are really at the peak of their powers, and it’s evident in their latest single. This one is the perfect track to accompany their huge news, with its big and theatrical sound. Fans will be brimming with excitement in the run up to the new record. The group’s tour is also set to be something special, with all eyes being on that big homecoming gig.

Keep your eyes and ears on Red Rum Club, you won’t want to miss what’s to come from them.
