LALA HAYDEN - 'baby you're the best'

LALA HAYDEN released her new synth-pop single, “baby you’re the best”.

British-Spanish artist LALA HAYDEN has made a strong mark on the music scene, especially this year, with appearances at festivals like Beyond The Music and Liverpool Sound City. On October 22nd, she unveiled her latest single, “baby you’re the best”, a track that delves into themes of emotional neglect, societal pressure, and the need for genuine connection. Reflecting on her inspiration, LALA HAYDEN (Laura Hayden) shared that the song’s perspective is that of “the first wife – desperate for attention”.

“baby you’re the best” opens with a four-on-the-floor drumbeat, setting up a powerful danceable rhythm that’s central to the genre. A synth line follows, playing a single note to build tension and anticipation leading up to the chorus. HAYDEN’s falsetto in the second verse showcases her impressive vocal skill, adding a memorable quality to her already unique sound.

The song’s themes resonate entirely, tapping into emotions many can relate to. Lyrics like “it’s getting harder to be myself” and “I’m tired of all this pretending” address the complexities and challenges of relationships and self-identity. Yet, in the chorus, her conflicting feelings come through thee catchy mantra “baby you’re the best”. The track’s relentless beat and danceable synths provide a lively contract to the painful and yearning lyrics – a clever juxtaposition that invites listeners to both dance and feel.

The song embodies the signature style of LALA HAYDEN, whose lyrics often delve into themes of womanhood, female empowerment, and self-love. Her live performances are known for their unique flair, effectively radiating strength and confidence. In an interview with Vogue, HAYDEN shared that her goal with her music is “to make you walk with your back a little straighter, your chest a little more open, and your head a little higher” – and “baby you’re the best” definitely delivered that feeling.

“baby you’re the best” is out now, with more music set for release in 2025. Catch her at Live at Leeds this November.
