Balancing Act - 'Laylow'
Balancing Act release latest single ‘Laylow’ ahead of a jampacked summer of gigs and festivals, and in true Balancing Act style ‘Laylow’ is sure to get you on your feet and moving.
Wednesday 19th June marks the release of Balancing Act’s newest single ‘Laylow’. The release of the track comes ahead of a rather busy and exciting month for the quintet, as the 25th sees the start of their run of shows opening for IDKHOW. If the release of the single wasn’t enough for you, their EP ‘Tightropes and Limericks’ is set for release October 4th.
Balancing Act have achieved many impressive feats over the last couple of years, and it is hardly surprising when the band’s talent speaks for itself. Sold out shows aren’t uncommon for them, and their recent headline shows at London’s Oslo and Manchester’s The Deaf Institute joined the bill of packed-out shows. Upcoming bands may often find it a little difficult to establish a community for themselves, but with Balancing Act it seems to have come rather naturally to them and if the success they have behind themselves already is anything to go by, they’re going to be an unstoppable force.
‘Laylow’ as a single, and “Tightropes and Limericks’ as an EP, both mark the start of a new chapter for Balancing Act. The single feels like a perfect way to introduce this new era of the band, bright and reminiscent of summer, ‘Laylow’ celebrates and embraces whatever is on the horizon for the band. The track is full of energy, and we know that it will be a fun addition to a live set, one that is sure to get their crowds moving and eager for more – something Balancing Act is already familiar with.
On the topic of the single ‘Laylow’, guitarist Jackson Couzens shared that “this track was written on a writing trip we did to the French Alps. We were snowed into this little space and sharing rooms and sofas, we couldn’t really go anywhere so it was perfect for writing. We all found it funny that despite being surrounded by snow in below zero temperatures, the bulk of what we wrote was actually more sunny and upbeat, and this one was no exception.” And the track does feel like one you’d expect to find in someone’s summer playlist and feels like the perfect track to be played during festivals in the summer too.
We're only halfway through the year, and Balancing Act have so much more promised for us! Following on from supporting IDKHOW later this month, the four piece are also kicking off their first full series of festival performances throughout the year as well. This is also your reminder that their EP ‘Tightropes and Limericks’ is out October 4th and that Balancing Act are definitely ones to watch, it’ll be exciting to see what the coming years bring for them – if there’s one thing we do know, it's that it is something that is sure to be fantastic on their part.
