Foster The People - 'Take Me Back'
Soft alternative disco pop will never tire, so proves indie outfit Foster The People. They’re heating up our summer with their latest single release ‘Take Me Back’, taken from their upcoming album ‘Paradise State Of Mind’!
The GRAMMY Award-nominated group have returned with a new and welcome indie disco sound that builds on the signature sound we got to know from them through timeless indie hit ‘Pumped Up Kicks’. ‘Take Me Back’ is the second single they’ve released from their upcoming fourth studio album and highlights their subtle confidence and ability to create enigmatic and colourful soundscapes without needing over-produced and over-complicated compositions. The track is a shimmering and synth-driven one slowly building towards a mantra-like hook, “take me back to the good times”. On their new single, the band shared: “This is a song about returning to innocence and feeling joy again.” They certainly succeeded in conveying that joy, with its uplifting soundscape and summer-vibes.
Foster The People made their highly anticipated return last month with robotic electro pop single ‘Lost In Space’ which showcases a thumping soundscape we’re glad doesn’t return on ‘Take Me Back’. The album is already proving to be a surprising musical journey we’re not yet sure we’re ready for. ‘Take Me Back’, however, is undeniably hard-hitting and a fanatically catchy indie track that’s pleasant on the ears. The band that formed in Los Angeles in 2009 have broadened their musical perspective, and it's clear that band-leader, multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Mark Foster is ready for a new chapter.
Foster The People’s 3x Platinum-certified debut album ‘Torches’ was released in 2011 and cemented their position on the modern musical landscape with multiple number 1’s and a GRAMMY Award nomination, their sophomore album followed in 2014 and reciprocated their debut’s success. To say expectations for the new album are high is an understatement. Whichever way the wind blows, Foster The People seem to have found themselves again, and that on its own is a joy to watch and listen to!
