She took a moment to talk to us about the inspirations behind her music
Who are your top three musical inspirations and why?
My top three musical inspirations have got to be Etta James, Erykah Badu and Greentea Peng. I’m just in love with their songwriting and their fearlessness at experimenting with new genres.
Is there a certain film that inspires you and why?
My all-time favourite movie is Almost Famous. I just think it’s a beautiful and inspiring film, and Kate Hudsons performance is magical. If that doesn’t make you want to be a musician, then I don’t know what will!
What city do you find the most inspiring and why?
London. There is so much opportunity here, and it’s always buzzing with diverse creatives. I can go out any night of the week and get new forms of inspiration. Sometimes it can be a little overwhelming, but that is inspiration in itself.
Who is the most inspiring person to you and why?
It’s impossible to choose! My entire family inspires me everyday. I come from a massive family and we are always supporting and inspiring each other. There is so much love there and I am eternally grateful for that.
What were your inspirations when writing your new track?
At the time, I was in the early stages of a new relationship and was overwhelmed with the love I felt for that person. I wanted to make sense of my own emotions, which music always helps me to do.
How would you like to inspire people?
Through my music! I want to inspire honesty and creativity and love, not only for each other but for yourself. That to me is the most important thing.
