Mumble Tide - 'Pea Soup'
Mumble Tide has provided us with another preview from their debut album 'Might As Well Play Another One' with new single 'Pea Soup' - a delightful warm piece of indie-fuzz-pop.
Whereas the pair’s previous releases were crafted whilst they were a couple, their debut album was written and recorded post break up, during a rare transition into a genuine friendship. This dynamic is captured on ‘Pea Soup’, a slice of shimmering power-pop about leaning into the dark and hanging onto the things that make you happy. As Gina explains: “Pea Soup is one big lumpy splurge, scribbled down on a hot day hiding away in my bedroom. It’s a bit of throwback to OG MTide with a chorus too big to slurp in one go.”
At the same time, ‘Pea Soup’ still highlights the bolder approach to production on ‘Might As Well Play Another One’. Working alongside co-producer Stew Jackson (Massive Attack), composer Ryan Rogers spent a few sleepless nights arranging the striking collage of synths beneath Leonard’s voice, aiming to strike a balance between the track’s natural poppiness and the more experimental direction throughout the rest of the record. The result is a track that’s big and beautiful in all the right ways, a burst of catharsis that lingers long after the dust has settled.
