Miles Kane - 'Electric Flower'
Miles Kane returns with a new single, “Electric Flower”, that is packed full of vibrancy and voltage.
Continuing an already stellar career, Miles Kane brings that classic Motown jazz feel into an all-new era with his new single “Electric Flower” from his upcoming album “Sunlight in the Shadows”. Having toured the world and reinvented the indie scene numerous times, not only by himself but alongside the tenacious and well-loved Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys, Kane returns to give a new chapter to his funky and fresh discography. While Kane’s most popular and earlier tracks are littered with heavier influences, such as Queens of the Stone Age and the early Arctic Monkeys, “Electric Flower” pulls the heart and soul of jazz and blues-based rock music and injects his very own twist in giving it a truly unique fingerprint.
In terms of composition, this track is second to none, as it seamlessly blends an array of guitars and groovy drum tracks into one easy-listening, free-flowing song that makes you want to get up and dance around the living room without a moment's notice. This single, along with the other 10 songs slated for the October release, is all produced by the multi-talented and endlessly creative Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys. You can feel the energy that was put into developing not only the song but the environment it creates. Dan Auerbach’s production leaves me wanting more and more as he creates this perfect energy of Saturday night fever that takes real talent to craft behind the control board. His ability to bend and weld all the standout parts of this groove-ridden track is nothing short of astonishing. Every member of the production delivers in emphatic fashion with rolling riffs, catchy drum beats and groovy bass lines that will make any listener transfixed on the world of sound they are currently experiencing. The second it hit my headphones, I felt as though I had yellow-tinted sunglasses on, strolling through a dive bar in the summer on the way towards bad decisions. Kane has cited that “All roads, over 20 years have led here”, and you can truly feel the culmination of a life's work and a path of musical evolution in this song.
Alongside Dan Auerbach is a stellar cast of supporting musicians that have helped craft this album into one for the ages, with Nick Bockrath of Cage the Elephant, Pat McLaughlin, Daniel Tashian and The Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney. This fusion of outrageous and eclectic talents has transcended Kane’s usual writing procedures and become a collaboration of some of the best minds in indie music of the last 20 years. Everything from the layered guitars to the brilliant lyricism and vocal talent always on display in Miles Kane’s songs make this song an Avengers-level team-up that I truly hope is in it for the long haul.
After a breathtaking main stage takeover this summer at TRNSMT festival and an excellent run of shows displaying nothing but musical prowess and perfection with the black keys, Kane goes on tour this September in a slew of stripped-back in-store performances that will, without a doubt, be monumental. This album is going to define a new era in Miles Kane’s career, and you don’t want to miss it!
