Album Review: Chastity Belt - 'Chastity Belt'

American alternative band Chastity Belt have released their fourth album which is a much more mellowed & full of depth, very much their best production to date.

Chastity Belt’s new self titled album see’s the band slow down their sound & reflect, creating a real sense of mixed emotion throughout the album. The harmonies & lyrics connect perfectly to showcase this raw emotion in what is Chastity Belts most album experimental to date. There are challenges in the mood, the tone & the overall theme across the album creating this really breathtaking piece of art.

The album starts with the single ‘Anns Jam’ which is a brilliant opening to this album creating a sense of direction of where Chastity Belt are heading for on this album. This is then followed by ‘Elena’ a song which although has a darker tone still has peaceful harmonies which are blended together so carefully. One highlight of the album is the song ‘effort’ a really moody song which has a great sense of frustration which is waiting to explode, so different to anything Chastity Belt has ever released.

The key moment in the album is the song ‘Half Hearted’ because although it shows Chastity Belt at a slower pace & much more darker it also has a great guitar riff which the band are known for bringing together their older sound with their new releases. The fourth release by Chastity Belt has been a real success, a great curated piece which leaves us very excited for their next release.
