EP Review: Azure Ryder - 'Crazy with the Light'

Azure Ryder returns with strikingly beautiful yet equally fierce sophomore EP ‘Crazy with The Light’.

Australian singer-songwriter Azure Ryder hits us with a brilliantly tender yet powerful 4 track EP after appearing on the scene back in spring. ‘Crazy with the Light’ is a heartbreakingly honest release which feels like an intimate story and insight into Ryders world.

‘Petty isn’t Pretty’, ‘Oh what a relief’ and ‘Blue’ have a more up-tempo feel with syncopated drums that make you want to dance around the kitchen, which contradicts the sadness in the story behind the lyric. What we’re left with is the joy of realising the freedom in moving on and taking back control.

The second track and second single ‘Stronger’ creates a whole new world of dreamy vocal textures with the running theme of what doesn’t kill us, makes us stronger being the narrative.

Ryder crafts captivating and soothing melodies which are inspired by the energy from the earth, sky, stars and moon which she channels into the songs and directly to the listener. ‘Crazy with The Light’ injects that bit of optimism into 2020 we’ve all been craving and is available everywhere now.
