EP Review: Eades - 'Abstract Education'
Eades new EP, ‘Abstract Education’, is an electrifying miscellany of punk, rock and alternative pop influences which merge flawlessly at the pivotal moments in their tracks to pack a pluralistic punch.
The insouciant vocals of Harry Jordan keep this EP chilled whilst the sharp guitar riffs and skittish drums add grit and attitude. This is Eades’ second EP following their highly praised 2020 debut ‘Microcosmic Things’ which was acclaimed by Radio 1, BBC 6 music and FADER amongst many others. Harry explained: “For our second EP we approached it from a completely different angle to our debut. We decided to perform the instrumentals live without a click track or anything to allow us to speed up or slow down and react a bit more like our live shows which we felt had an energy we hadn’t got across in our previous recordings.”
Alongside Harry on vocals and guitar, Eades are Tom O’Reilly on lead guitar, Dave Lancaster on bass, Dan Clifford-Smith on Drums and Lily Fontaine on backing vocals, synth and percussion.
‘Abstract Education’ contains an eclectic mix of songs from angsty and heavy to more understated tracks such as ‘Smoking Hour’, which makes it interesting and engaging to listen to. Eades is releasing the full EP on the 30th of April.
