Subterranean Street Society - 'It's Me Babe'
‘It’s Me Babe’ is the second single from the upcoming album of Dutch-Danish alternative rock outfit Subterranean Street Society. Driven by warm and pleasing vocals, the song subtly and immersively pulls its listener into an alternative world.
Coloured by angelic harmonies and a minimalistic instrumental soundscape, the song uncovers a mysterious layer of the band who have been creating intriguing alternative folk grunge sounds for a few years now and never seize to amaze their listeners. The song is a pensive breakup track, a story of heartache that is an important part of the story the trio are telling with their upcoming album, ‘Saudade’. The elongated single is an allusion to Bob Dylan’s classic ‘It Ain’t Me Babe’ and builds around a soundscape driven by restrained guitar play and the growingly convincing vocals of Danish singer Louis Puggaard-Müller. It is grand, theatrical and bittersweet.
Subterranean Street Society reposition themselves with their new single and the upcoming album, they have grown from being a well-known Dutch act to an outfit that creates a versatile and international sound, unique to them and their influences. Their new album ‘Saudade’ will be presented on the 12th of February in Amsterdam’s legendary music venue Melkweg. From the 11th of February the album will be available online, on vinyl and on CD.
