Sophie Kilburn - 'After The End'
Sophie Kilburn opens up to the public with her touching single ‘After the End’ unfolding the struggle of living without her mother.
Since her debut in 2019, the Derbyshire-born artist keeps empowering her fans through sincere lyrics and instrumental styles blending indie and alt-pop sounds. Being “the most exposing and personal track I have ever written” as said by Sophie, 'After the End' has a story behind its creation. The story of Sophie coming across unseen video footage of her mother and hearing her voice for the first time.
Right from the start the track transports you into the atmosphere of a “coastal heaven” taped on a recording. The tender melody going hand in hand with punchy percussions is saturated with sadness which is impossible to ignore.
While listening to 'After the End,' one can feel as though Sophie is personally speaking with them. The bravely raw vocals showcase a haunting vulnerability which accompanied by the soothing reverb guitars make the narrative even more intimate and heartbreaking. Seems like it’s impossible not to get deeply touched when listening to ‘After the End’. A wave of emotions sweeps over you as the song unfolds exploring Sophie’s warm-hearted feelings towards her mother in a moving and exposing manner.
'After the End’ is a part of Sophie’s second EP ‘Not Bitter, Just Bored’ that comes out on Thursday 27th October. Throughout the EP Sophie explores the stages of heartache and the process of recovering from it, revealing her experiences of moving forward through the tough times.
