Saloon Dion - 'I Don't Feel'
Post-Punk Outfit Saloon Dion strike again with another big track. The Bristol boys have attracted attention from all angles with the latest single ‘I don’t feel’.
The opening guitar-riff has similarities with great bands such as Oasis. That distorted, rough guitar sound that everybody loves. The band demonstrate just how tight their playing is in the intro of this one.
The track kicks off in the fashion we’ve come to know and love from the Bristol Band. Organised chaos, almost. The big intro is followed by a performance which demands complete attention from the lead singer. The band have stated that “’I don’t feel’ is a song about being reluctant to seek help from others. What it isn’t is a song about having no feeling”. This seems really important. There’s a certain swagger about the track, the band aren’t saying they don’t feel anything, more so that they choose what and when to feel.
The words and the way that they strike are reminiscent of bands like the Pistols, and Fontaines D.C. The track really is a lesson to others on how to write a post-punk track. It’s got the lot, distorted guitar riffs, thudding bass, loud drums and a vocal performance which will hold the attention of the crowds that the band perform to going forward. All working together to give us a track which really excites us about the future of the band, ahead of their upcoming EP release this year.
The video accompanying the track is quite something, too. Revolving around the simple social greetings, where the band take part in a class which teaches them how to better their handshake-game. A really interesting video which perfectly accompanies the words. It seems to offer a humorous lesson on social etiquette, whilst the words so explicitly express the feelings of the band.
‘I don’t feel’ is a track which will have a lot of people interested in Saloon Dion, who are a force to be reckoned with as they begin the build up to their tour, beginning at the end of this month and extending until April. The band are true talents, and the release of their EP will be much anticipated.
