Demob Happy - 'Run Baby Run'
Demob Happy build even more suspense ahead of their album release in May with the latest single ‘Run Baby Run’.
Having been labelled ‘a musical slap in the face’ by Clara Amfo of Radio 1, it was expected that the latest release by Demob Happy would be pretty heavy. It is this in absolute abundance.
The UK trio have become known for their big, heavy sounds, yet the latest single somehow takes this to a completely new dimension.
The initial fuzzy riff that brings in the rest of the band carries a really feel of doom, which is added to tenfold by the vocal performance of lead singer and bassist Matthew Marcantonio. He sings about ‘A nice way to die’ in the first verse of the track, and the tone is pretty much set.
Drummer Thomas Armstrong and guitarist Adam Godfrey work with Marcantonio so well on this track, and the trio really do make some noise despite being a three-piece.
If ‘Run Baby Run’ is anything to go by, then the new record ‘Divine Machines’ (Due for release May 26th) will be a brilliantly heavy rock record. ‘Run Baby Run’ is fast paced, and will leave live audiences in a fever pitch.
The accompanying video matches the feel of sheer doom, with its dark red emphasis dominating much of the video. It largely depicts the band’s frontman surrounded by numerous people, yet the focus is solely on him. This will undoubtedly be the effect when the track is performed live. Audiences will be unable to turn their attention away from the band.
Demob Happy have a string of live dates on the horizon as they put out the record, which is set to be massive for the trio. Catch Demob Happy at their album release gigs.
