YONAKA – ‘Welcome To My House’
British alt-rockers YONAKA release the power anthem ‘Welcome To My House,’ the title track from their upcoming EP.
Your cup of tea or not, everybody loves YONAKA, whether they know it or not. Jumping up and down at a gig, or bobbing your head to their tracks on the radio, this much-loved trio has been under the world’s radar since the day they started.
They kick-started their new year, and new era, with ‘PANIC,’ reminiscent in style and stature of 2021’s ‘Seize The Power.’ Loud, powerful soul-food. I suppose that’s just the definition of YONAKA’s music. Following this, the band deliver new single ‘Welcome To My House,’ alongside the announcement of the release of the eponymous upcoming EP. The EP is out on the 26th May via Republic Records.
Smooth, funk-infused-alt-rock is how best to describe this single. Jarvis’ almost conversational lyricism means messages are spelled out to listeners clear as day, and a booming chorus is one you just want to dance and shout to.
Always having been a band with an eye to detail, the official visualiser for the track is stunning. Simple, yet effective, YONAKA welcomes us into their world with Jarvis in centre-stage – she’s singing at us, with us, for us.
On the EP, vocalist Theresa Jarvis enlightened listeners that “each song represents a memory or emotion inside of me… I want listeners to be able to open up a door, come into my world, and see what each song meant to me at that specific time in my life.” YONAKA really are welcoming us into their house – let’s just hope they stick the kettle on.
If you want to catch YONAKA live, they have a leg of nation-wide dates between May and September, including at Brighton’s The Great Escape and the renowned Leeds & Reading Festivals, so there really is no excuse to miss out.
